WIESCO

Brazil January 30 - February 17, 2012

WIESCO
Florianopolis
held it’s first camp in South America in February 2011. The camp was at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, in Florianopolis, Brazil. Florianapolis (known to locals as “Floripa”) is an island-city in southern Brazil with a long interesting history, set on a semi-tropical island with more than 40 beaches.

Last year’s camp exceeded everyone’s expectations. Students were very motivated, creative, warm, and grateful for the opportunity to improve their English skills, which translated into a very positive teaching experience. Teaching and living for three weeks in the uniquely exciting (and welcoming) Brazilian culture provided staff the opportunity to experience their food, music, other cultural events, as well as begin to explore the historical and ecological resources of that part of a large and diverse country.

If you are interested in working in the Florianopolis camp please contact camp leader Ken Parejko. Ken taught high school science, and college biology at Mt. Senario College, Saginaw Valley State College, Winona State, and UW-Stout, and is now happily retired. He's traveled extensively, and taught at the WIESCO Torun, Poland camp in 2009 and 2010.
