About

Who we are

WIESCO was established by Brendan Kunda and Barbara Klippel as a 100% volunteer organization in order for English-speaking volunteers to become international ambassadors and build a world community.

Since 1994, our volunteer teachers and student assistants have worked with over 25,000 students in English language and culture programs in Europe and South America.

WIESCO advisory board members, program directors, teachers, and student assistants come from all over the world. WIESCO accepts non-native speakers of English as volunteers at the discretion of the president.

Over the years, WIESCO has been very fortunate to work with host coordinators to hold programs in Armenia, Brazil, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, and Russia.

What we do

WIESCO provides English language instruction and cultural activities in a face-to-face classroom setting. Programs range from one to three weeks.

The main objective of our language programs is to immerse students in English through instructor-designed lessons, activities, and discussions with our volunteer teachers and student assistants.

The majority of our experiences are geared towards middle and high school students, however some are designed for adult learners. The students we meet and work with are always highly motivated to engage with WIESCO volunteers and utilize their English skills.

As an international organization we are always looking for opportunities to visit somewhere new! If you are located outside of the United States and interested in hosting WIESCO for an English language and culture program, please contact Robert Pine.
