WIESCO, Inc. 2010 Summer Language Camps
Lithuania: We plan to have camps in Lithuania every other
year. There will be no camp in 2010, but we plan to have a camp in 2011.
2009 was the third year for WIESCO to sponsor an English language camp in Lithuania.
In the summer of 2003, we had a camp outside the village of Vievis, near the
capital of Vilnius. Five summers ago we had a camp was in the town of Kelme.
The 2009 camp was our second year in Plunge.
Plunge is located on the Babrungas river in eastern Lithuania, about 70 miles
from the port of Klaipeda. This pleasant small town is known for its excellent
schools, fine art museum, and a rich cultural history.
Teachers who go to Plunge will probably have opportunities to visit the capital
city of Vilnius and the port city of Klaipeda.
If you interested in going to Plunge, George Hirsch, Camp Director for the Plunge
camps is the person to contact. George spent most of his educational career
as a teacher, coach, and principal in the Wausau, Wisconsin School district.
He currently works part-time as a supervisor of student teachers through the
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. George has been a WIESCO summer language
camp teacher in Daugavpils, Lativa for four summers. In 2007 and 2009, he was
the Camp Director and a teacher at Plunge, Lithuania.
